An Evening Out

We went out to dinner tonight with our friends Shelly and Chase. Today was Shelly's birthday. She also found out that she is having a baby girl! It was an exciting day for her. We all went to Outback Steakhouse for dinner which was delicious and then Shelly wanted some custard from Andy's so we went. I was very proud of myself and only had a scoop of custard in a kiddie cup. It was a fun evening.

Sleepy Sunday

Today Derek, Lilly, Me, Booshie and Oliver all slept until 11:30am. When I woke up I found this at the foot of my bed. They love each other.

Breakfast!

Today I had to attend the foreign language festival at ASU and Derek and Lilly tagged along. I thought I would have to be there until about 12 but I lucked out and was able to leave at 9:30. Since it was still so early and we hadn't eaten breakfast yet we decided to go the The Edge Coffee House. We both got omelets with fruit and toast and they were yummy! I have to admit that Derek's vegetarian one looked better than my bacon, cheese and tomato one. After we ate I had time to get home and change and make it to the gym for my usual 11am class. Later I went out to lunch with Robyn, my neighbor, and her daughter Emma. It was a really good day.

This is What Boredom Looks Like

I played bingo with my students today which can be very boring for me. So, in between calling out words I made this doodle with highlighters. I then took the photo using the dreamlike quality camera filter. I'm ready for Friday.

Snap, Crackle, Pop

I finally went to he chiropractor today after more than a week of severe lower back pain I'm almost positive I injured it doing an exercise incorrectly at the gym.

She said that my back was so tight she couldn't even adjust it properly today. She did however go to town on my neck. It sounded like someone broke a chair over my head multiple times.

This was my first real experience with a chiropractor and it was definitely interesting. At the time I thought to myself, "What did I get myself into? This kinda hurts and sounds horrible." But its been several hours and my back definitely feels much better. My neck is kinda sore but she said that would happen because it was so outta whack. I'll go back on Monday and hopefully she will really straighten me out.

This photo has a dreamlike quality thanks to that cool camera app that I've previously mentioned. I like it quite a bit. I especially like the anti-vibration function which doesn't allow you to take the picture until the camera is still. It made it possible for me to take this picture with my arm twisted behind my back.

Ummm...Yeah...

We think that Lilly has started teething and our pediatrician told us that we can mix equal parts maalox and liquid benadryl and then put it on her gums for pain relief. I thought it sounded kind of weird but decided to go ahead and get the stuff anyway. So, I went to get the stuff after leaving the gym. While on my way Derek called to tell me that Lilly was hungry and at the end of her rope and that I needed to hurry. So now I am frantically running through Wal-Mart to get this stuff. However, when I get to the pharmacy department I can't find either of them. Wal-Mart literally does not have them! So I then call Derek's mom, our pediatric nurse to see if there is anything that can be used to substitute them. 

Thirty minutes later after almost leaving the store with nothing and reading tiny active ingredient print, I walk out with the Equate brand liquid antacid in cooling mint flavor and children's Equate brand allergy liquid in cherry flavor. By the time I got home Derek had already given her a bottle so all of my crazy frantic running was pretty much useless. Then, when we start to mix the stuff together we decide to read all the ingredients. After discovering that the liquid antacid has aluminum, sodium benzoate and multiple parabens, we decided not to use it! So my late night trip to Wal-Mart really was useless, except I did by stuff to make myself a sandwich for dinner. 

Instead of using the mint-cherry poison concoction, we did a little on-line research and gave her a rag soaked in chamomile tea and a frozen waffle to chew on for a minute. I think the tea worked even though she didn't love its taste and she loved the waffle but, it was a little labor intensive because I kept having to rotate it when the part she was chewing on became thawed. Fun times!

Yummy Orange Food

Today Derek's mother brought over this entire box of sweet potatoes. They are from a local farmer and are organic and delicious. I plan on making some baby food with them and of course eating plenty of them on my own. Yum!

Tongue Time

I know this photo is blurry but it was the best one out of numerous shots. She just kept wiggling around! She started playing with her tongue and I thought is was so funny that I had to take a picture. Obviously I spent a lot of time with Lilly this weekend. Maybe I will find something else to take pictures of for the next few days but I don't know...she's awful cute.

Nap Time!

Lilly and I took a nap on Saturday and when I woke up she was so pretty sleeping there that I had to take a picture. When I take a nap with Lilly she gets to sleep in bed with me. It's one of her favorite things to do and she normally sleeps longer when she naps next to me than when she doesn't. I love her.

Art Exhibit

We decided at the last minute that we would take a trip to Memphis to see Alecia's art in an exhibit. We didn't end up leaving until almost 7 and by the time we left Memphis it was 10:30. Needless to say we were worried about ruining Lilly's sleep schedule but it turned out ok. She still went to bed at the appropriate hour the rest of the weekend without any fuss. This is a photo taken while driving over the bridge that connects Tennessee to Arkansas. I was going to try to get the "Welcome to Arkansas" sign but I didn't get the camera out in time. Oh well.

It was nice to get to see Alecia and Alex but we were a little stressed out dealing with Lilly who got very tired and fussy around 9, her bedtime. So, we didn't get to visit as much as we would have liked. Oh, and Alecia's art was one of the best there! Yay Alecia!

Night School

Today we had parent-teacher conferences. I arrived at school at 7:45 a.m. and did not leave until 8 p.m. That means that I was at work for almost 13 hours. That's literally more than half of my day. Did I mention that for 7 of those hours I had Lilly with me? Yeah...I'm exhausted. Also, today was only Thursday which means that I still have a whole day to get through before I get to enjoy the fleeting memory that is the weekend. Ugh.

Money, Money, Money, Money

I received my first full paycheck since September today! I've pretty much been working for insurance since I came back from maternity leave in January. So needless to say I feel pretty enthused.
I took this picture using the 365 camera app. All I did was draw a dollar sign on a sheet of paper and the camera did the rest. Pretty neat.

Shake it!

Lilly likes her newish toys. She has had them since she was born but is just now starting to get some use out of them. She discovered that when she moves her arms she can make a noise if she is holding this toy. She thinks it's pretty swell.

I Can Hold It!

I've been out of school for the last two days due to snow. This is seriously effecting my milk supply because the bottles are only good for a certain number of days. So I decided to give Lilly a bottle so I don't have to throw out quite as many because it hurts me to pour that white gold down the drain. While I was giving Lilly the bottle she kept trying to hold it on her own. She's my favorite.

Living Room Reclaimed

For the past few weeks we have had a blanket in the floor of the living room to lay Lilly down so she could practice rolling over. Today I brought down the pack and play so there is essentially a crib in the living room. She seems to like it pretty well and I definitely enjoy having my living room functional again.

Standing up...Kind of

Lilly can stand up almost by herself by leaning on the edge of her crib. She can't do it for more than a few seconds but I'm sure it won't be long. I know this picture is slightly blurred but as I said she can only do it for a max of thirty seconds so it is slightly difficult to get a good picture.

At the Grocery Store

I took Lilly with me to the grocery store by myself for the first time today. She was very well behaved and we had a lovely time. We also got lots of "oh isn't that adorable" faces which made me happy because, let's face it, we were. :)

Pump n' Glo

So, it's 10:00 pm and I forgot to take a picture again. And there were so many opportunities today. I just didn't think about it. Derek and I went on a date while Pam and Alyssa took care of Lilly. We ate at my favorite restaurant, Sai Thai, and then went to see "Tron". It was pretty good. Visually it was very cool but dialogue wise a little corny. So, then I'm sitting here in the dark feeding Lilly and expressing milk and I thought, "the lights from my pump are kind of reminiscent of the movie". Viola, the picture for today. As a note, the two dots to the left denote the suction strength and the five dots to the right are the speed, in case you were wondering.

New Music

So, one of my students recommended this artist to me based on my affection for John Mayer, Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz.His name is Eric Hutchinson and so far I really like him. He's like a mix between of all three artists. I haven't listened to the whole CD yet but do far I like the title track the best and number 6 sounds promising. (BTW, I was in bed when I realized I had forgotten to take a picture so I actually got up to take this. That's dedication.)

The Al's

Lilly and I spent our evening napping and eating followed by skyping with Aunt Alecia and Uncle Alex. All in all we feel it was a rather successful night. I mean what could be better than an evening filled with most of our favorite things.

Mmmmm...tasty.

Lilly can now grab her feet! She really wants to put them in her mouth but can't keep them there for more than a second and she starts to get really frustrated but it's still really cute.
