I made Lilly spaghetti for the first time. She loved it and even slurped the noodles. It was super cute!

Spanish Time!

We had q Spanish themed dinner this evening. We invited Robyn, Todd, Joe and Pete over for dinner. We cooked paella, brushetta toasts with goat cheese dip and Spanish rice pudding and of course sangria. It was delicious and everyone had a good time. The only problem is that now I want to go back to Spain!

Sharing with Daddy

Lilly and Derek had some bonding time during lunch today. Derek shared his pasta with Lilly. She liked it so much she couldn't wait for him to give her more so she took some on her own. There's actually a hilarious video of this if Derek will ever post it to his blog for you.

Rearranging

We decided to rearrange our living room to make it more baby proofed. Now Lilly can't get into electrical cords for our TV and we don't have to create ugly barriers with furniture to keep her out of them. Yay!

Yogurt Boogers

We tried giving yogurt to Lilly again. She didn't like it the first time so I thought if we mashed up banana in it that she would like it better. (It's baby yogurt and isn't very sweet so I understand why she didn't like it.) Well, it didn't go over too well this time. She just smooshed the yogurt out of her mouth and ate the banana. This resulted in a very messy Lilly. Derek got some great video that you can watch at his blog.

Cathartic Cleaning

I just cleaned out my closet. This is the pile of things that I don't like and are too big. Yes, almost all of my pants are too big! It's exciting except for the fact that I don't have very many pairs of pants now. Oh well, time to go shopping!

Standing up

Lilly can now stand up without using anyone or anything to help her. She's really scary now because when she falls she can get right back up and keep on walking whereas before she had to crawl to the nearest tall object to stand up. Yay Lilly!

Sleeping In

This is what time I got out of bed this morning. I didn't wake up any sooner because Lilly stayed with Derek's parents last night. It was glorious!I can't remember the last time I slept in this late without interruption. I'm sure it was before Lilly was born. I normally wake up at about six a.m. I do miss her a lot though. But, she's coming home this afternoon and I can't wait. Sleep is overrated if I don't get to wake up to the beautiful screaming face of my daughter.

Heartbreaker

We went to reading time at the library again. Lilly made two older boys cry. She just doesn't understand that you can't use other babies to pull yourself to a standing position and she has a nonexistent personal bubble. So she tends to come on a little strong when she's excited about other babies. Like hands in their face, share their pacifier, suck on their head strong. I kind of felt like the parent of a bully even though I know she doesn't understand. She was very hard to corral but once they put the toys out she happily sat sucking on a multitude of new toys. At one point a bigger kid took her toy and once again, she didn't scream or cry she just calmly took it back. Did I mention that during the reading portion she refused to sit? Yeah, she just walked around in the center of the circle babbling and occassionaly attempting to attack other babies before I intervened. It was interesting.

Kitty Television

I think we have a nest of birds roosting in the eave of our house. There were about 8 of these little birds flying around and perching right outside our staircase window. The cats spent several hours sitting there watching them. They're such couch potatoes.

Dinner with Friends

We had my friends Amanda and Chris over for dinner last night. I met both of them at the gym. Chris is actually my Kickboxing instructor. We had a great time even though Lilly decided she didn't want to go to bed and instead ended up hanging our with us for awhile. Too bad Amanda is moving to Belgium next month for two years!

A Hot Mess

We went to a family reunion today at lake Charles. It was only 91 degrees. Only. I was so miserable that the only reason I was able to last the hour we were there was to keep ice cubes on my pulse points. Lilly got really red in the face even though I kept cooling her with ice cubes as well. It was nice visiting everyone but it sure was hot!

Slowly but Surely

We are in a constant state of baby proofing. Now that Lilly is walking more and more Derek finally baby proofed the cleaning supplies cabinet and a few other hazardous cabinets and drawers. Last weekend we rearranged a few rooms so she can have more freedom to roam, with supervision of course. And we bought a baby gate. I'm sure she'll show us plenty more areas that need help to make them baby friendly.

My Mexican Lawn Guy

Derek's dad brought him one of his old riding lawnmowers so Derek can now mow our lawn instead of paying someone else. He thought it would both humorous and beneficial to wear his sombrero from Halloween. So, there he is. Mowing our front yard in a sombrero and sunglasses. I love him.

Reading Time

We finally managed to make it to reading time at the library. Lilly enjoyed the reading part but liked the end when they dumped a bunch of toys into the floor and kids went wild. You can see her here with not one or two not three toys. At one point a little boy took one of them and toddled away. Lilly looked at him, pondered her situation for a moment and then took off after him. She proceeded to climb up him and retrieve her toy. Then she sat down and went back to chewing/sucking on it. It was super cute and funny.

A New Tree

The tree we had planted died of a fungus. We finally got a new one planted. It's a little smaller than the last one and is a different color of maple. But, at least it's not dead. Our yard no longer looks like we don't care.

A Walk in the Park

I woke up this morning with Lilly at about 7 and stepped outside to discover that it was not yet ridiculously hot out. So, I woke my Aunt up (I'm staying with her in Little Rock for a few days.) and we went for a walk at Two Rivers Park. It was really nice and we saw a deer! Then we went back to her house and ate french toast, canteloupe and turkey sausage. Later we're going to her health club to swim. Good day!

Derek's Perfect Tortilla

Derek felt like making a Spanish tortilla this morning. I bought a new pan awhile ago and let's just say it was a "great success!" (That's a quote from the movie "Borat" if you didn't know.) We haven't tasted it yet but it sure is pretty!

Also, if you don't know what a tortilla is, it is amicable of eggs, potatoes, onions and spices all cooked together kind of like an omelet. Our friend from Spain, Javier, says you have to eat it with a little mayonnaise on top and I have to admit that it is delicious that way. Yum!

Tiny Toes

I bought nailpolish that doesn't have all the bad chemicals that most polishes have and I painted Lilly's toenails. I painted mine too so we match. The color is "one less lonely glitter" and it's from the collectioned designed by Justin Bieber. Lol.

Colored French Pedicure

My friend Amanda did this with her nails and I thought it was cool so I did too. In the picture it is hard to tell but the tips are a darker pink than the rest of the nail.
