Happy Halloween!

Pan de Muerto

We stopped by the Mexican bakery in townsmen bought some pan de muerto or dead bread. They only make it for a few weeks every year for Day of the Dead and it is delicious. It's an eggy dough with hints of orange and is covered in sugar. The best part is that it only costs about .75 cents! So yummy!

Double Naked Baby

We had dinner at our friends house and decoded to give the girls baths. Once out of the bath they both took off for the living room while naked. It was cute until Lilly peed in the floor...twice. Oh well, at least they had hardwood floors.

Bead Paint + t-shirt = Awesome!

I made this shirt. It only took about ten minutes and cost about 4 dollars. Take a plain shirt, buy bead paint and voila!  Awesome, custom shirt. I got the paint on sale (it normally costs 8$ for 4 different colors) and I already had the shirt. Now I have a shirt for my Halloween costume. I also made one for Lilly. I can't wait to make more stuff with this paint!

Tu-tu's

I made these for Lilly and my Halloween costumes. We're going to be black cats with tut-tus. I'm pretty excited. I still have to make the shirts that say "meow" and the clip-in ears but we'll be adorable when I'm finished.

Dateiversary

Yesterday my wonderful husband surprised me with lunch and these beautiful flowers. It was the 7 year anniversary of our first date. He's so awesome! They are beautiful stargazer lilly's and they smell AH-MAY-ZING! I love him!

Tired Lilly

The Big Dam Bridge

I have been hearing about this amazing bridge ever since it was built and we finally had enough time to visit it this weekend. Lilly didn't really get much outofit because she slept the entire time. She woke up just in time to be loaded back into the car. In all fairness, she had a pretty big day with the zoo and visiting family.

Lilly's First Zoo Trip

We went to the little rock zoo this weekend with my brother Alex. Lilly liked the Kitty's the best. She even tried to get them to come to her by rubbing her fingers together like we do for the house cats.

After attending the farmers market and eating brunch at The Edge we went to the free petting zoo at ASU. Lilly wasn't too sure about most of the animals. Although, she did touch the rabbit and chick. The bigger animals like the pig, pony and goat scared her.

Day of the Dead Decorations

I had my classes make day of the dead decorations this week. They made papel picado (cut paper) as well as masks. The other Spanish teachers also did crafts with their students. They made calacas which are skeletons. Now we get to enjoy our decorations for a few weeks until we take them down after the 2nd.

Our photographer posted a sample/teaser photo on facebook from our photo shoot on Saturday! Isn't Lillian beautiful?! I do wish the feather wasn't in her face quite so much but, it's still a pretty photo.

Ear Woes

Well, Lilly inherited my bad ear canals. She has her third ear infection and antibiotics didn't fix it. So, we're going to get her tubes for her ears to prevent the need for antibiotics all the time. This sucks! My poor Lillian! (This is obviously my ear but have you ever tried to take a photo of a baby's ear? Yeah, they were all blurry, hence my ear.)

Pumpkins!

I finally had time to make these pumpkins. I bought dollar store pumpkins, spray-painted them cream and then decorated them with brass tacks. I think they turned out pretty great and only cost about 2 dollars each.

Ohhhh the Pain!

I have about FIVE ulcers in my mouth right now and can barely talk they hurt so badly. So, I hit the interwebs for possible cures. I tried making a turmeric paste. We'll see if it's successful.

Free, Easy Art

We rearranged our bedroom last weekend and when we did we didn't have enough art for all of the empty wall space. Thus has been driving me crazy all week but, I don't want to rush picking out art so I needed a cheap and easy option to act as a placeholder. Let's just say this cost me nothing and that I'm pretty awesome.
I went to a site called "the graphics fairy" and found several free vintage images that I liked. I printed them out and then placed them on the wall above our bed by hammering sewing pins into the top of each page. The resulting holes are basically non-existent and it only took about ten minutes. (I eyeballed it and did not measure.) I do think that I'm going to print out six more so that the art spans the length of the entire headboard but, I'm pretty happy with it.

Running!

I managed to snap this shot while at the park today. It was the only good photo I managed to get because she was constantly moving while we were there. The weather was so nice and there weren't many people there. She was having so much fun that she cried when we went to put her in the car.

Mmmmmm....mug cake

It's awesome. You throw a few ingredients in a mug, stir, microwave and eat! Yum!

School Spirit

All of the classrooms are competing in a door decorating contest for homecoming week. This is what my class came up wth. We were thinking outside of the box and went with a fashion themed door where all of the phrases relate to fashion but also to sports. We think it turned put pretty awesome. I hope we win!

My Weekend

So, we had the closet remodeled. After giving the paint a few days to dry, I was finally able to get in there and start re-organizing. Because I am more than a little OCD this turned into a 2 and a half day project. I ended up making a pile as big as two people full of clothes, shoes and bags that I have decided I no longer need or want that i plan to sell at a consignment store, and another bag almost as big destined for the salvation army. Did I mention that I also cleaned out the other two closets downstairs? Well, I did. One is my coat/jacket closet and the other is Derek's coat/sweater closet. I am exhausted but very happy with the result of all that work. I can't wait to get ready tomorrow morning in my new closet!

Closet Remodel

For my birthday Derek let me get our closet remodeled so that I have a vanity and more storage. This is the result. The paint is still wet but I'm pretty excited about it. I'm going to hang a mirror on the wall and,of course, bring in all of my girlie thongs like makeup and jewelry. I can't wait to get my hairdryer and curling iron out of the bathroom. It's so exciting! I'll post a photo as soon as I get it all prettified.

Begging for More

Lilly likes cake a lot. She got to eat some today at Emma's first birthday party. This is her looking up at Derek waiting to be given another bite. When he stopped giving it to her she proceeded to follow him out of the room and fuss about the fact that he wasn't giving her more. Which would melt him a little and he would concede by giving her "just one more bite". Does somebody have daddy tied around her little finger? I think so.
