Halloween Decorations

So, I decided to decorate for Halloween. I came up with a genius idea of printing out spooky silhouettes and taping them inside my lampshades. It looks pretty awesome! I also made a cat, witch, ghosts saying boo and a vignette of children wearing costumes while trick-or-treating in profile. I think they all look really neat.

Miracle Hair

My friend Shelly bought this amazing invention for Lilly for her birthday. It didn't arrive in time for her to get it on her birthday but she brought it by today. It is awesome! Lilly has pigtails now!

New Landscaping

We had our backyard landscaped and it's beautiful! They planted hydrangeas, and azaleas as well as some big bushes that will grow to cover our neighbor's windows. It's exciting!

Crafting Again

I made Lilly this shirt with iron-on transfer and a little creativity. I had to make another shirt after her birthday shirt turned out so well. I also made a shirt for our neighbor Emma whose birthday is this week. I'm going to give it, along with a few other things, to her for her birthday. Hers has a fleur de lis and her name because her mom likes fleur de lis's. It's colors are the opposite of Lilly's shirt, purple graphic on a pink shirt. Won't they be cute together?

A New Outfit

I washed all of the outfits Lilly was given at her party. This outfit was given to her by Derek's parents and I thought it was really cute. You can't see the pants but they look like purple blue jeans but are really cotton. I lucked out and found this hat and flower that I already had to match.

Lillian's Birthday Party

 Lilly had her party and it was a great success! We had a ton of people come and I think she had a great time. I do have to give a little credit to my mom, my step-dad Tim, Alecia and Robyn for helping with finishing up cupcakes, cleaning up the kitchen and other food finishing touches. Without them I would have had guests showing up with about 4 dozen un-iced cupcakes, no sandwiches or asparagus dip  and quite a mess in the kitchen. But, other than the hectic, crazy time building up to the party, the day was great. I was really happy with all of the decorations and the food. Especially the key lime cupcakes with raspberry filling and buttercream icing!

Pretty

Derek got me this necklace for my birthday but it didn't arrive in the mail until today. I love it! Isn't it pretty?

Happy Birthday to Me

I had a pretty good birthday. Derek made me baked French toast for breakfast. He got me a super cool mug that is purple and has a rhinestone "R" on it. He also got me a sweater, some jewelry and candy. Then he brought me lunch to school and showed up to parent-teacher conferences with a cookie cake. He's so awesome and wonderful and perfect. I love him!

Lilly is One!

She looked super cute in the top and hair bow I made her. She started staying in the toddler room today and took a 3 hour nap! That's the longest nap she's ever taken at daycare! Then Derek's parents and sister came by and we opened presents. She loved all of them but was especially enamored with the tea set we got her. Then we went to eat dinner at Red Lobster to celebrate both of our birthdays. They sang to us. I hope it was a pretty good first birthday for her even if she was kind of fussy all day due to teething.

Custom Cupcakes

I made cupcake Toppers for Lilly's birthday! One is a disc that has a big "1 Lillian" on it and the others are purple 3 dimensional flowers. I think they turned out pretty good but it's hard to tell when they're not in a cupcake. When I brought one to show Derek he had an excited look on his face until I got closer and then he said, "Oh, I thought you were bringing me a purple sicker. Now I'm sad." Gotta love him!

The Sickest I've Ever Been

Lilly and I got two slightly different stomach bugs on Friday night. We were both puking every hour. Then, hers turned inti diarrhea but she didn't act like anything was bothering. She was actually in an exceptionally good mood. However, I felt AWFUL! Every part of me ached and it was work to even speak. I didn't have diarrhea but I did almost pass out twice and had to call Derek to bring me water while lying on the bathroom floor trying to maintain consciousness. I also had a fever of 102. So, it's safe to say that Saturday was a bust and that I obviously didn't die. I woke up today feeling 100 times better and was able to make up for lost time yesterday in regards to weekend chores. Lilly is also fine. Isn't life crazy? I literally went from, "Oh my God. I think I'm going to die.", to " Meh...I feel ok. Let's go for a walk." Crazy! (The photo of Gatorade is in homage to the fact that it might very well have prevented my death in what I will refer to in the future as "That time I almost died.")

A Nice Walk

Lilly and I went for a walk. Tonight was supposed to be my gym night but Derek had to work late so I didn't get to go. I had to get some exercise in so Lilly and I took a long walk. It was nice if not a little cool and I think I got a pretty good workout because I took the hilly way and was carrying an extra 20 pounds with Lilly strapped to my chest. I love the fall.

Tongue Fun

Lilly really likes to see others stick their tongues out when she does it. Many times she'll take her pacifier out, make you do it and then put her pacifier back in her mouth over and over again. It's really cute.

I made this!

Isn't it super cute?! The cupcake, candle and name are iron-on transfer and the icing is fabric flowers made out of silk that I hand sewed. I think it turned out better than I could have imagined and I can't wait to see Lilly wear it!

A Little OCD

I bought a new carafe for water in the fridge but it was too tall for it to fit without rearranging a few shelves. But when I went to rearrange I realized they were dirty so I started cleaning. One thing led to another and an three hours later I had completely cleaned out the fridge (that means throwing out stuff as well as removing each shelf and drawer and washing everything down), swept the floor, cleaned and rearranged my closet, finished the laundry, cleaned the upstairs bathroom, mopped the floors and picker up Lilly's room. Yeah....my OCD kicked on and I couldn't stop myself. If I wasn't so exhausted I would still be cleaning.

Cuz I'm Awesome

I made this wreath for Halloween. Would you believe that it is made out of napkins, hot glue and a straw wreath base? It only cost about 6 bucks and about an hour to make. I'm pretty pleased with it. Oh, the "boo" is glitter covered foam from the Target dollar bins. I just hope it stays undamaged from the weather. Our porch is covered so hopefully it won't get destroyed. We'll see!

Homemade Brew

I got Derek a juice spiking kit for Derek at Christmas and he finally got around to using it. The first batch was cranberry pomegranate juice and was delicious. Then we decided to use a juice we affectionately call "rape juice" because it tastes so good "it's like a violent sexual crime in your mouth". Anyway, it is finally done and is better than any sparkling wine I've ever had and only cost about 3 bucks for a whole jug. Yum!

A Day at the Park

Today was a beautiful day! It was around 75 degrees and blue skies. We had the windows open all day, went to the park and then had a cookout with our friends Robyn and Todd. I tried out one of the cupcake recipes I've picked our for Lilly's party. They were delicious! I made almond joy cupcakes but they should really be called mounds cupcakes because they didn't have any almond but did have dark chocolate and coconut. It was a great day!

Early Birthday Present

We bought Lilly a bouncy ball pit for her birthday. We were afraid that she might be intimidated by it at the party so we got it out early for her to get used to it. She thought it was awesome! After bouncing around for awhile it was bath time and we put some balls in the tub with her which she also found to be very entertaining.

Unplanned Matching

I got dressed and then dressed Lilly not thinking about the fact that we would match (i also wore a puple cardigan). Then when I came downstairs and saw Derek, he matched too. So we had to get a photo.

Sickly Lilly

When I picked Lilly up from daycare they told me she had been running a fever all day and tugging her ears. When I actually picked her up I realized she was really hot. I took her to the pediatrician and they said Lilly had a double ear infection and a fever of almost 103! So, they gave her a shot of antibiotics as well ad some to take orally over the next few days and said she should be feeling much better within 24 hours. I sure hope so!
