Gross and Delicious
I made Lilly prune puree. She has been having some constipation problems and prunes can help that. So, food that looks like poop to help her make a poop. Fitting don't you think? Ohhh, gotta go. I think it worked.

Scary Gymnast Baby
This is Lilly on her changing table doing a backbend in order to try and reach the wipes on the dresser. She held herself on this position for at least 30 seconds and then did it over and over again. Good thing there is a strap to keep her alive!

Sickness
I have a cold. Above you can see my toilet paper roll which I use as tissue and many used tissues forming a pile. I don't feel well.

Pampering
I went and got a mani/pedi with my friend Robyn today. It was really nice, however, I think the guy who did my pedicure had a thing for feet/calves because he massaged them for the entire time. Robyn was a little jealous and it felt too good for me to get creeped out.

Post Bath Lilly
Lilly peed all over herself so we gave her a bath. She is beginning to really enjoy baths and splashes around so much that the counter and floor get soaked.

A Beautiful Day!

Today we had wonderful weather! Dad opened all of the windows downstairs and we let the breeze blow through the house. It was nice and sunny and made me even more excited about Spring Break. Only one more day until I'm out for a week! I can't wait!!
I took the photo using the platinotype filter on my camera.

Dressy Shoes

Today I had an interview with the head of the foreign language department at ASU. I am currently considering switching jobs so I can spend more time with Lilly and she can spend less time in a daycare. ASU is currently looking to hire Spanish instructors and I think it might work out well for me. Of course, it is A LOT less money. Let me rephrase that, It's a HELL OF A LOT less money. But when you start to analyze the amount of time that I would be required to work for a "full-time" position it actually isn't too bad. You are a full-time employee when you teach at least 5 classes per semester. Each class meets for 3 hours each week and then you are required to hold 4 office hours a week. So, I wouldn't be required to be at the school for more than 20 hours a week to be considered full-time. Sounds pretty good right? Until you hear how much they pay you. Ready? 10,000 for the entire semester. That's it. So, this would be a serious drop in pay but, would also be a serious drop in work load, I hope. I am also planning on going back to school to get my master's degree and there is an entirely online program through the University of Southern Mississippi that is accredited and looks awesome. So this would give me the opportunity to do that and then possibly make a decent amount of money at the university level. What do you guys think? Should I quit my current job which I could keep for the rest of my life if I wanted to, or should I take a lower paying job and start working towards my masters so I can also spend more time with Lilly? It's a big, scary decision and I am worried I'll make the wrong one or miss out on a great opportunity to improve mine and Lilly's quality of life. Please comment and tell me what you think!
By the way, the photo above is of my dressy shoes which I wore to my interview. On an interesting note, my interview was supposed to be tomorrow and they called to re-schedule this morning. My options were wait until next week sometime or come today. I decided to come today. There was only one problem, I wore blue-jeans and tennis shoes today. So, I had to rush home at lunch and shower and change into something presentable. I took the photo with my cool camera app and this one mimics the photographs that a Diana camera would take. I think it makes it look vintage and kinda cool.

Homemade Baby Puree
I took my first adventure into the world of baby food yesterday. I made apple puree, otherwise known as applesauce. It was actually really easy. All I did was Peel, core and chop the apple and then simmered it in water for ten minutes. Then I dumped it all into a blender and hit puree. It tasted good too and Lilly loved it! Next week when I'm on spring break I plan on getting more adventurous by using veggies and possibly making combinations. The goal is to make a bunch and then freeze it so I have it all ready for a while.

A New Toy
Lilly deems her new exersaucer edible! Thanks to one of my school teacher friends who no longer needs it for her grandkids, we have an exersaucer for Lilly to play in. She loves it!

Preparing for Sunny Days

On our way home from Sheridan yesterday Lilly got very upset about the sun in her eyes. Every time I tried to shield her from it with a blanket, she would pull the blanket down onto her face and get even more angry. (She's begun to grab anything within reach and put it directly into her mouth.) Because of this constant tug of war with the blanket, Lilly and the sun, I realized that she needed some sunglasses. She seems to like them, we'll see how long they stay out of her mouth.

Lillian vs. 3 Month Old Me

While visiting my parents this weekend we found some photos of me when I was a baby. When you compare this picture of me at 3 months to Lilly at almost 6 months it becomes apparent, to me anyway, that we have some major similarities. Of course, this is not the most flattering picture of Lillian because the flash threw her off a little but, I think you can still see the similarities. What do you think?

The Long Road Home
We had to drive down to my hometown, Sheridan, for my Uncle Stacy's funeral. I snapped this photo on the way. I think it does a good job of representing the mood, kind of somber.

Cat #2

I was about to go to bed when I realized that I hadn't taken a photo so, I snapped this one really quickly using my cool camera app, vignette. I realize I have several Oliver photos but he's just so darn photogenic. This filter is called "posterize". I think it looks pretty neat.

Fat Loot

Derek's awesome mom got me three tickets to the pre-opening of the Twinkle Twinkle consignment sale tonight. I invited Shelly and Robyn to go with me and I got some really cute outfits as well as an awesome new diaper bag. I got her the cutest little swimsuit for this summer and it was only $3 as well as one for next summer for the same price. It is really great because she's about to outgrow her 6 month clothes and I didn't have many 9 month and up clothes in the closet. However, now she's got a good little stash so if I wake up one morning to find that her clothes no longer fit, I now have back-up.

Tiredness

Last night did not go well. I went over to my neighbor Robyn's house to finish watching a movie after putting Lilly to bed at 8:30 and when I returned at 10:30 it was already past my bedtime and I was tired. But then, the cat knocked the hairbrush into the sink which made a huge racket and woke up Lilly. At 12:30 we were still trying to get Lilly to go back to sleep and finally put her between us in the bed. That meant that I didn't sleep very well because I had a baby in bed next to me which always makes me nervous and I end up sleeping with half of my body hanging off of the bed to accommodate her. Even with sleeping in the bed with us she woke up again at 3:30 and 5:30. Needless to say, I am tired. Maybe I will get to take a nap this afternoon, Lilly willing.
The above photo is of my second cup of coffee for the day. I took it using my awesome new app called vignette which was featured on the front page of the New York Times as the best new camera app. I love it even though it will take me a while to get used to using it. It has so many options that I end up spending more time to take all of my photos. I used the filter called "London" on this photo which accentuates reds and fades all other colors. I think it worked pretty well since my coffee mug is red.

Shrimptastic!

Derek cooked shrimp tonight for the first time ever. They were super yummy. The reason we decided to try cooking shrimp was because our friends Robyn and Todd told us how they do it and we thought it sounded pretty easy. Then, when I was at the grocery store earlier this week they had gigantic tiger shrimp as a manager's special so they were only $7 instead of the usual $14. So I grabbed them. All Derek did was coat them in olive oil and Tony's cajun seasoning and then bake them for 10 minutes at 500 degrees. They were tasty and we will definitely be cooking them again in the future.

Dinner With Friends

We had our neighbors, Robyn, Todd and Emma, over for dinner tonight. They are really nice and it's fantastic to actually know our neighbors. I was going to take a photo of the meal because it was really pretty and delicious looking but, I was so caught up in eating and visiting that I didn't remember to take a picture until we were already cleaning up. So, you get to see the dirty dishes that once held delicious food instead of the delicious food itself. If you're wondering what we had, Derek made trout and I made steamed green beans with a honey-sugar glaze, baked sweet potatoes and chocolate and nut stuffed baked nectarines. It was a yummy end to a pretty good day.

Sleeping Lilly

This afternoon Lilly decided to sleep. She slept for 2 hours straight when she normally would be awake. I was kind of sad because I wanted to play with her but I took advantage of it and caught up on some of my t.v. shows. I also managed to snap this photo using the camera app that makes it look like a painting. She looks peaceful doesn't she?
